ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE ANNOUNCES SEASON OPENER
TO BENEFIT CHILDRENS HOME
Upland, CA
.April 5, 2006
.Jay Rutherford, President of Speed Truck Challenge,
Inc. announced the exciting season opener race date of April 8, 2006 at the ever-popular,
historic racing venue of Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA,. an ASA Member Track.Huge
crowds will enjoy this tremendously physical race that will feature 30 of the best drivers
in the Speed Truck Challenge ranks. The fact that we have this many trucks entered
in the first race of the season speaks to how the Speed Truck Challenge is growing every
year, said Rutherford. We started racing at Orange Show in 1997 with only four
trucks and the 2006 season will be represented by 65 teams, with 23 of these teams new to
the series! the very excited Rutherford continued. With drivers from
California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Montana, and Wisconsin this year, racers are quickly
realizing that our ASA Speed Truck Challenge is the place to drive for strong competition
and to be recognized on national television.
Speed Truck Challenge now boasts 65 racing teams and 10 different racing venues with a
race schedule that rivals any other driving circuit in the country and is the largest
series on the west coast and is the only one that has been regularly covered by national
television. There is also strong anticipation of the series being shown on a well-known
national television broadcaster, however, at this printing, the network cannot be revealed
due to contractual obligations yet to be completed.
This first race at Orange Show Speedway, which always has fans standing in jubilation the
entire race, will see 10 Rookies trying to qualify for a 22 truck starting field. There
will also be 20 veterans trying to earn these precious starting positions, including two
former past Speed Truck Challenge Champions: Darren Young and Lee Hatch driving for the
United Nissan Racing Team.
We are proud to dedicate and name this first race of our season to Hillview Acres
Childrens Home in Chino, CA. Hillview Acres is a 77 year old childrens
institution that cares for boys and girls ages from 6 to16 that have been taken from their
biological parents for various reasons; in-turn finding them foster homes across the state
of California, says Rutherford. Robert Kroeker, the 2003 Speed Truck Challenge
Rookie of the Year will return to the series at the Orange Show Speedway with the #58
Hillview Acres Childrens Home and Cornwell Tools colors to help raise money for this
worthy charity. Special thanks goes out to Ron Nava for the use of his Speed Truck for
this charitable event.
